Long time member of the Grant Street Wellness Clinic ‘team’, Ryan Thompson, R.Ac, R.TCM.P, continues to do amazing community work, both near & far.  This past September, 2013, marked his second volunteer trip to Guatemala as a teacher of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory.  He was working with an organization called GUAMAP (Guatemala Medical Acupuncture Project) which provides equipment & training in acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine theory to local Health Promoters.

This year, they had 18 Promoters at the training, which focused on obstetrics & pediatrics (pregnancy & children).  Days consisted of early morning Qi Gong classes, TCM theory/treatment protocols, practical acupuncture learning. and clinic experience with the local Guatemalan people.

Please refer to Ryan’s blog for vivid descriptions and photos of the bright Guatemalan culture, as well as accounts of amazing results achieved through acupuncture.
