Graston Technique

Grant Street Wellness Clinic’s newest practitioner, Thom Williamson, BA, RMT has recently expanded his knowledge and practical base through continuing education in Graston Technique.  Used by physiotherapists, chiropractors and other manual therapists, Graston effectively breaks down scar tissue and reduces fascial adhesions.  It is used along with cold packs and stretching to realign muscle fibers in more functional patterns.  In this way, Graston aids in reducing the inflammation that causes pain and restricts mobility, in both acute and chronic cases.

The six instruments used in Graston Technique are made from medical grade stainless steel.  While some may argue that a common-place butter knife could be used, the Graston instruments are specifically designed with curvilinear edges that mold to the contours of the body.  The high grade steel also acts as a tuning fork, transmitting vibrations to the therapist’s hands which indicate where the adhesions and restrictions lay.

Are you experiencing any of the following:

tendonitis (elbow, shoulder, knee etc), carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, plantar fasciitis, trigger finger, or just have some ugly scar tissue you wish would disappear??

If so, DO NOT BREAK OUT THE BUTTER KNIFE!! Come and see Thom; his hands, brains and Graston tools will help guide your body back into a state of function.  Thom is available at the Grant Street Wellness Clinic on Mondays and Thursdays.
