Rachel values a collaborative approach to working with clients to meet their individual needs and goals. She recognizes that each person walks through the door with unique life challenges and that asking for support can be a difficult task. Rachel fosters a safe therapeutic space so that individuals seeking support are welcomed with unconditional acceptance.
A Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, Rachel obtained her Masters degree in Educational Counselling (University of Ottawa) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology (McGill University). She has over five years of combined clinical counselling experience and educational training.
Client centered and strengths-based frameworks guide Rachel’s practice. She integrates Mindfulness approaches, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, feminist counselling, and motivational interviewing. Rachel offers support to people through times of anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma and abuse, relationship difficulties, for stress management and challenging life transitions. She is also registered with the Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP) and can provide counselling for those who have been pre-approved for services through CVAP.
In her free time, Rachel enjoys travelling, yoga, cooking, and spending time with family and friends on Hornby Island.
