Samantha Cheng, MC, RCC. Clinical Counselling

Samantha believes that feeling seen and heard is a crucial part of the human experience, and foundational in allowing individuals to foster their own sense of belonging and significance in the world. It is her passion for this process that drew her to this field, and it is her joy to witness individuals embarking on journeys of discovery that lead to greater abilities to move, act, and speak from an authentic and integrated place that acknowledges and honours their voices, needs, and experiences.

Samantha is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. She provides individual counselling services to both adults and youth (14 years old +) who are navigating life transitions, experiencing grief and loss, or exploring questions of meaning and identity.

With a passion for social justice, and rooted in a strengths-based, collaborative approach, Samantha sees her work as an opportunity to join with others on their journey to discover all that they already are, and to further support them to become who they would like to be. It is her honour and privilege to bear witness to both the tough and tender moments along the way.

Samantha considers herself to be an eclectic therapist, though first and foremost, one who holds a person-centred stance. That is, while well-versed in a number of different approaches and techniques, she will select which tools may be appropriate, according to a one’s particular circumstances, preferences, and needs. As time goes on, the kind of work done together will continue to be shaped according to what each client is finding to be most helpful.

Samantha is Chinese-Canadian, by way of the Philippines, and she was born and raised in Vancouver, on unceded Coast Salish Territories. She loves dancing, painting, and finding magic in everyday encounters with the world.
